Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova enjoyed an incredible 2025 season. The duo kicked off their year on a strong note, winning the Australian Open. They followed this up with title finishes at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, Citi DC Open and the Japan Open. The duo also finished as runners-up at the 2025 US Open, and made semifinals appearances at the Wimbledon Championships, the Miami Open and the BNP Paribas Open.

At the 2025 WTA Finals, Townsend and Siniakova had been frontrunners for lifting the trophy, but were unexpectedly knocked out of the event in the semifinals. Reflecting on this defeat and the abrupt end to her season, Townsend wrote on Instagram,

“It's a weird feeling ending my best season with a loss.. Walking off the court for the last time of 2025 saying "I wish" or "I should have" isn't nearly what I thought would happen, but that's sports.. and also life…It's not how many times you fall, but how many times you get back up. Huge thank you to @wtafinalsriyadh for such a fantastic event.”

Taylor Townsend’s 2025 season also saw her deliver some strong performances in the singles event. The highlight of her year took place at the US Open, where she defeated the likes of Jelena Ostapenko and Mirra Andreeva to reach the fourth round.
