Things have fallen apart for Sherrone Moore in the last couple of days. The coach was fired by Michigan on Wednesday for having an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. He was subsequently arrested and taken into custody the same day on the allegation of assault.

Moore was formally charged with criminal allegations of breaking and entering, third-degree home invasion and stalking on Friday. His bond was set at $25,000. Upon release, he’ll be required to wear a GPS monitoring tether and continue all prescribed mental health treatment.

Furthermore, Moore is prohibited from using alcohol or any intoxicants, possessing firearms or dangerous weapons, engaging in any criminal activity, or leaving the state of Michigan without court approval. He is also barred from any form of contact with the victim.

A photo of Sherrone Moore appearing at his arraignment on Friday went viral online, spreading rapidly across social media and news outlets. The former Michigan coach was seen wearing white jail attire while appearing virtually for a hearing on his assault allegation.

Court documents and local authorities alleged that Moore illegally made his way into a woman's home after their romantic relationship ended. He was said to have repeated unwanted contact, behaved in a threatening manner and made terrifying and intimidating statements.

Michigan president says the university has zero tolerance for Sherrone Moore's actions

Before the arraignment of Sherrone Moore took place on Friday, Michigan president Domenico Grasso released a statement on the action of the former coach. Grasso commented on the school’s zero tolerance to the allegation, prompting the decision on his future.

“When the findings of a University investigation into Coach Moore’s behavior were presented on Wednesday, we immediately terminated his employment,” Grasso said. There is absolutely no tolerance for this conduct at the University of Michigan. None. “I have been in close communication with the Board of Regents and we are united in committing to doing what is right. This breach of trust by Coach Moore is painful for many in our community, first and foremost, the individuals directly involved in this situation.”

Going forward, Michigan can no longer afford to select a coach based on just tactical prowess. After Jim Harbaugh's era was clouded by a sign-stealing scandal and Sherrone Moore's tenure ended amid assault allegations, the university needs to bring in someone who can uphold its values.
