The Philadelphia Phillies are keeping their options open.
One of those is using a catcher in left field, potentially.
Garrett Stubbs worked in left field on Sunday during Spring Training action for the Phillies.

Stubbs has played 14 games in left field in his MLB career, but none of those were starts. They were all in a pinch, totaling 32.2 innings out there.
On top of that, Stubbs hasn't played in left field at all since 2023, and that was just a single inning.
Stubbs is either the second- or third-string catcher in the Phillies' organization.
J.T. Realmuto will get most of the work, even as he ages, so it makes sense to at least see where else Stubbs can help out.
The 32-year old Stubbs played in five MLB games in 2025 but got just one at bat. He actually scored two runs, thanks to pinch-running action.
He's a career .215 hitter at the MLB level with a .603 OPS.
Stubbs is just a depth player, and so it makes sense for him to see if he can contribute in more ways than just behind the plate.
Whether this translates to the regular season is less certain, but it's an option for the Phillies.
