The Philadelphia Phillies are very likely to be trade deadline buyers this season, and if there is one thing this team needs more than anything else, it would be a good right-handed hitter.

While there will be attention on Byron Buxton and plenty of other stars, Los Angeles Angels future Hall of Famer Mike Trout is someone who will be at the center of Phillies' fans' attention in the trade market this year.

MLB insider Bob Nightengale of USA Today shared a big update on the Phillies' chances to acquire Trout. Unfortunately for Phillies fans, this is not a good update.

Phillies Mike Trout trade rumors take big hit with new update

"They will be on the lookout for a right-handed hitter at the trade deadline, but no, Mike Trout will not be coming to Philadelphia," Nightengale writes. "He still is owed $148.46 million after this season, and has a full no-trade clause."

As good as Trout has been in his MLB career, and how well he's playing this season with a .910 OPS, an MLB-leading 56 walks, 14 homers, and an AL-leading 45 runs scored to go with 2.4 bWAR, the odds of a trade are slim to none.

Trout has full control over whether he's traded or not with his no-trade clause. Even if the Phillies and Angels are in agreement on a deal, Trout could shut down anything with this no-trade clause.

He's shown no indication that he wants to leave the Angels, and even though Phillies fans would surely love to see their team acquire Trout, this rumor from Nightengale all but shuts down the possibility of Trout coming to Philadelphia.

It's not impossible, as Trout, the Angels, and the Phillies could still change their minds by the August 3 trade deadline.

But, as things stand now, the Phillies are not likely to land Trout in a trade despite all of the rumors over the last few years.
