Phillies linked to Red Sox' all-star in blockbuster trade idea

The Philadelphia Phillies have become a pillar in the MLB predictions market. Ever since pulling off a few savvy trades at the 2025 trade deadline, Philadelphia has continued to be linked to star players, whether via trade or in the free agent market.

Philly's front office will have some major decisions to make this often regarding DH Kyle Schwarber and starter Ranger Suarez. They also have to consider re-signing Harrison Bader. If the Phillies don't retain Bader, they will have to replace that production some other way, and have recently been linked to trading for a star Boston Red Sox player.

The Phillies are named as a top destination for Jarren Duran.

The Athletic's Jim Bowden recently released a trade predictions piece, and Jarren Duran lands at No.4 of potential trade candidates this offseason, and the Phillies are listed as a possible destination:

"Duran’s name keeps coming up in trade rumors and it now sounds like the Red Sox will move on from him this winter," Bowden said. "Teams such as the Phillies, Dodgers, Tigers, Guardians and Rangers would love to land him. He’s also controllable through the 2028 season, so it would take a huge haul for the Red Sox to move him."

It seemed as it Duran was a lock to stay in Boston after his stellar 2024 season, but the Red Sox outfield has become so crowded, and their full youth movement mentality is a good reason to move on from Duran.

As for why the Phillies are a solid suitor, well, they need some outfield help. If they don't retain Harrison Bader, the outfield looks really thin on paper. It has already been reported that Nick Castellanos is as good as gone.

Considering Jarren Duran is controllable through 2028 is also why it makes perfect sense that he could be on the move. It may cost the Phillies a prospect or two, but as we saw earlier this year in July, Philadelphia's front office has no problem moving top prospects.
