Phillies Kyle Schwarber gets mega $110M contract update linked to 6-time All-Star, Silver Slugger

The Philadelphia Phillies have an absolute gem in Kyle Schwarber, who has taken off this season. He’s become the next closest thing to Shohei Ohtani in the MVP race — but with free agency looming after 2025, a tough decision awaits him this offseason. As his performance continues to rise, so does the price tag the Phillies will likely need to pay to keep him.

“His career year has been amazing to watch but is also making it increasingly difficult for the Phillies to retain him, as he's set to be a free agent after 2025,” TBOH’s Matt Davis wrote.

Back in May, Bryce Harper made it clear that losing Schwarber in free agency would be a major blow to the team dynamic.

“I was talking to somebody the other day,” Harper told MLB.com. “And I was like, ‘Man, it would be weird not to have [Schwarber] in our clubhouse.’ He’s such a good leader. He’s such a good person in the community. Great family, great person.”

As Schwarber’s value climbs, comparisons to other major contracts have started to surface — most notably to J.D. Martinez.

“More recently, J.D. Martinez signed a five-year, $110 million contract with the Red Sox in the spring of 2018 as he entered his age-30 season. Martinez was an All-Star in every full season of the deal, the lone exception coming in 2020, when there was no All-Star Game,” MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand wrote.

A deal in that range would be massive for Schwarber — one that could potentially take him through the final stretch of his career. He continues to rake, and with so much riding on this season, he’s made the most of every opportunity.

Now, with a potentially huge contract waiting for him after 2025, Schwarber can focus fully on one goal: bringing a World Series back to Philadelphia. And for the Phillies — if $110 million is what it takes to keep him in the City of Brotherly Love — then by all means, give the man his money.
