This season has not been a great one for the Philadelphia Phillies for many reasons. The firing of Rob Thomson was tough news for the team, but they've also been dealing with some injury issues.
Jhoan Duran, their best reliever by a significant margin, landed on the injured list and has missed some time for the 13-20 Phillies.
However, MLB.com's Todd Zolecki is reporting that there's some good news for Duran, as the Phillies flame-throwing righty had a good bullpen session and is trending in the right direction for a return to the mound.
Phillies' Jhoan Duran making good injury recovery progress
"Jhoan Duran had a good bullpen session yesterday," Zolecki reports. "Hit 100 mph. Don Mattingly said they'll talk about the next step. Might or might not need a rehab assignment."
Duran is a key part of this team, and getting him back would be huge for the bullpen. Dealing with an oblique issue, Duran hasn't pitched since April 11th.
He's closing in on being out for the Phillies for a month, which has coincided with one of the worst stretches in the team's recent franchise history.

Before he landed on the IL this season, he posted a 1.35 ERA in seven outings with five saves and eight strikeouts across 6.2 innings of work.
He was great for the Phillies last year and was off to a good start in 2026 before this oblique issue sidelined him for some time.
But now, Duran is trending in the right direction and might be getting back into the Phillies bullpen in the near future.
