Why Bo Bichette is playing shortstop for Mets after previous position change

Bo Bichette is back where he started.

On Sunday for the New York Mets, Bichette is playing shortstop. It's his first start as a SS for the Mets after arriving this offseason from the Toronto Blue Jays.

Bichette has been playing third base. The Mets signed him to play that spot, one he had never played before in the major leagues.

But on Sunday, they've got no choice.

Why is Bo Bichette playing shortstop?

The Mets don't have a choice. Injuries have decimated them.

Francisco Lindor has been out with an injury.

On Saturday, Ronny Mauricio got hurt, too, and now he's on the injured list.

The Mets called up Vidal Brujan as depth, but he's a career .199 MLB hitter. They couldn't start him everyday in these absences.

That leaves Bichette as the only other shortstop-capable player on the roster. And so there he is, back at a spot he played for so many years.
