The Philadelphia Phillies' bullpen has been battered and bruised as of late, with four relievers on the injured list. All four right-handers Jhoan Duran (left oblique strain), Jonathan Bowlan (right groin strain, Zach Pop (strained right calf) and Max Lazar (left oblique strain) have no timetable for return.
The Phillies bullpen even with their injuries has been taxed, throwing the 10th-most innings this young season (98.2). To help add some reinforcements, the Phillies are bringing up a hard-throwing right-hander from Double-A.

According to the Phillies on X, ahead of their three-game series with the Atlanta Braves on Friday, the Phillies have recalled right-hander Alex McFarlane from Double-A Reading. McFarlane, 24, has never pitched in the major leagues and will make his debut once he pitches, and will wear No. 71.

McFarlane is the Phillies' 26th-best prospect in the organization and has been outstanding for the Reading Fighting Phillies. In seven appearances out of the bullpen and 10 strikeouts since 6.1.
Since there is no timetable for any of the core members of the bullpen to return soon, McFarlane should get some time to get some. Looks to see if he’s worth keeping around. However, once one of those members is back, McFarlane will likely be optioned back to AAA Lehigh Valley.
