Will Blake Horvath get drafted? Navy QB legend projection for NFL is tricky

1 hour ago 5

Blake Horvath's name will always be remembered at the Naval Academy.

He's one of the best football players to ever don a Navy uniform.

That doesn't mean his NFL projection is straightforward, though.

Navy QBs don't usually make the league.

Will Blake Horvath get drafted?

Horvath appears highly unlikely to get drafted.

In Dane Brugler's draft rankings for The Athletic, he's slotted as the No. 29 QB, well off the board of draft range.

The best Horvath can likely hope for is to be an undrafted free agent.

The case for Blake Horvath as an UDFA

Playing in Navy's offense, Horvath was far from a traditional quarterback.

He ran for a combined 2,446 yards and 33 touchdowns in his junior and senior seasons combined.

As a passer, he threw for 2,933 yards and 25 touchdowns in those two seasons.

He completed 59.2% of his passes.

Horvath doesn't have an NFL quarterback skillset.

But he does have toughness, and character, and legitimate athletic ability.

It feels like there might be room for Horvath in an NFL building. As a quarterback, maybe not. But as a football player and a man, he's got a chance.
