Phillies $8 million All-Star surprisingly called blockbuster trade bait image

The Philadelphia Phillies won 95 games in 2024 and therefore shouldn't have to make many crazy changes this winter.

Philadelphia surely didn't finish the season as it hoped to. The Phillies were among the top contenders to win the World Series but were knocked out of the playoffs by the New York Mets. Unfortunately, the season didn't end how the team hoped, but fans should have hope.

Most of the Phillies' roster will be back in 2025 barring trades. The Phillies clearly know how to win games and can take another step next year. The Phillies really don't need to make any major moves, but that doesn't mean that the franchise won't.

There have been some rumors lately that Philadelphia could surprisingly trade All-Star infielder Alec Bohm and Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller followed the speculation up by suggesting that he could be one of the top pieces of trade bait this offseason.

"Alec Bohm was one of the biggest reasons the Philadelphia Phillies raced out to their insurmountable lead in the (National League) East," Miller said. " When they were 58-30 and 10 games clear of Atlanta at the end of play on July 5, Bohm had just been named the NL's starting third baseman in the All-Star Game, sitting at a .300 batting average with a slugging percentage just a shade below .500...

"Bohm has two years of arbitration eligibility remaining, but the trade rumors have quickly blossomed into questions of 'where' he'll ultimately be dealt, rather than questions of 'if' the Phillies are looking to trade him—fueled in some small part by recent talk that they might be in play for Alex Bregman."

Philadelphia doesn't need to trade Bohm. He will make just over $8 million in 2025 and is coming off the best season of his career. A trade seems surprising, but the Phillies' front office does know more than I do.
