Phillies $7.7 million All-Star linked to Mariners as possible trade fit

The Philadelphia Phillies need help at the third base position, as Alec Bohm has not panned out this year. Bohm is hitting .258/.301/.348 with just two home runs, 13 RBI and a .650 OPS.

Interestingly though, they could potentially look for suitors to take Bohm off their hands. They need an upgrade, and shipping the former All-Star out would clear the way for one.

Zac Hereth of Seattle Sports proposed the idea of Philadelphia sending Bohm to the Seattle Mariners at the trade deadline.

Seattle has needed help offensively for quite some time.

"The emergence of Ben Williamson at third base has been huge for the Mariners, but there’s a good chance the rookie will go through a prolonged slump at some point. Bohm, who is under club control through 2026, would give the M’s an insurance policy for Williamson and a potential answer at first base for this year and next year," Hereth writes.

When he's right, Bohm provides power from the right side of the plate. His defense isn't the best, but his bat can make up for it when he produces.

This would give the Mariners a big bat to build around. Meanwhile, it would also clear the way for Philadelphia to make another trade and potentially acquire somebody such as Nolan Arenado, if the St. Louis Cardinals sell.

Last season, Bohm hit .280/.332/.448 with 15 home runs, 97 RBI, and .779 OPS and 3.0 WAR.

Coming off of his best season, he should still have some value as the Phillies potentially look for upgrades at third base.

It will be interesting to see what Philadelphia decides to do.
