Calgary native and pop superstar Tate McRae was in attendance at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Tuesday night to watch the Calgary Flames host the Seattle Kraken, continuing a long-running family tradition of attending home games during visits back to the city.

Prior to puck drop, McRae met up with team mascot Harvey the Hound in the concourse. The Flames presented her with a gift box that revealed custom Calgary Flames “McRae” jerseys.

The official account of the team shared snaps of the moment across social media platforms including Instagram.

“Calgary’s own @tatemcrae is in the house tonight 🔥,” read the caption of the post.

Hockey media outlet Spittin’ Chiclets later shared video of McRae seated alongside her brother Tucker McRae and other family members during the game.

Tate McRae’s brother Tucker is a Calgary-born defenseman who developed through the local hockey system before playing junior hockey in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with the Okotoks Oilers where he served as captain.

He later advanced to NCAA Division I hockey at Dartmouth College as a dependable defensive presence known for his physical play and shot-blocking. Now a senior, Tucker holds a leadership role with the Big Green and has been named team captain.

Flames secured a 4-2 win over the Kraken

Meanwhile, on the ice the Calgary Flames scored three times in the third period to rally past the Seattle Kraken 4-2. Seattle carried a 2-1 lead into the final frame after goals from Chandler Stephenson at even strength and Kaapo Kakko on the power play.

Calgary’s lone second-period goal came from Mikael Backlund who finished off a play in tight to keep the game within reach.

The Flames then turned the game in the third period. Nazem Kadri tied it 2-2 on the power play with a one-timer from the slot. Momentum continued to swing when Matt Coronato gave the Flames their first lead of the night midway through the period finishing a rush chance to make it 3-2.

Backlund sealed the result with an empty-net goal, his second of the game, capping the comeback.

Rasmus Andersson played a central role offensively recording three assists, while Jonathan Huberdeau added a helper to reach a notable career milestone. In net, Dustin Wolf stopped 21 shots through Seattle’s early push and shutting the door in the third.
