Phil Mickelson has been in the headlines of the media after he his threatened to take legal action against Hunterbrook Media. It came shortly after the media outlet accused the veteran golfer of reportedly sharing insider info on Sable Offshore Corporation to private investors.
For months, fans have witnessed Mickelson take a tough stand with the Houston-based SOC. When the California Coastal Commission slapped the firm with cease and desist orders and $18 million-worth fines, Lefty did not mind taking a jibe at the former. Amidst the Hunterbrook Media report, Phil Mickelson has commented on the concerning oil spill news.
On November 8, natural oil seepage affected a considerable area off the coast of Santa Barbara. The oil created a film that ended up coating over 100 seabirds, also posing a serious threat to the marine life in the area. An X (previously Twitter) user titled Mike Umbro shared the news of the seepage on his timeline, hinting at a speculated fiasco regarding the reservoir pressure.
The incident did not escape Phil Mickelson's eyes, and the LIV golfer reposted it on his X timeline. In the caption of his retweet, Mickelson claimed that there was a way to prevent this from taking place. The veteran golfer wrote:
"This could have been prevented and it’s only going to get worse"Take a look at the X post by Mickelson here:

Phil Mickelson has shown his concern for wildlife before. On October 12, the six-time sent out a fiery rant on X where he publicly called out the California Coastal Commission for reportedly damaging the Santa Barbara coast. Amidst the ongoing hearings between SOC and CCC, Mickelson also accused the latter of unaliving the local marine wildlife of California.
When Phil Mickelson showed the way to "reduce pressure and seepage" of oil to save marine life
On September 21, Mickelson explained the reason behind the presence of black tar and oil in the water around Santa Barbara beaches. Through a post on his X timeline, the veteran golfer advocated for the Sable Offshore Corporation to extract the oil beneath the Santa Barbara coast.
According to Phil Mickelson's claim, enabling the SOC project would reduce the annual natural oil seepage greatly, which would also save the marine wildlife. Take a look at what Mickelson wrote on X:
"Santa Barbara beaches have oil and black tar in the water constantly... 36,000 BARRELS of oil seep through the ocean floor EVERY YEAR. (There are 10-15 billion barrels underneath) Please let Sable extract the oil, reduce the pressure and seepage, save marine wildlife, and help the beaches become cleaner and more beautiful.#SOC"Santa Barbara beaches have oil and black tar in the water constantly. Why? 36,000 BARRELS of oil seep through the ocean floor EVERY YEAR. (There are 10-15 billion barrels underneath) Please let Sable extract the oil, reduce the pressure and seepage, save marine wildlife, and help
In a follow-up tweet below this post, the LIV golfer did not forget to point fingers at the Environmental Defense Center. He accused EDC of reportedly "sabotaging" the beaches of California. In another tweet regarding the ongoing issues between the CCC and the SOC, Mickelson labelled the EDC as "Environmental Death Council".
