Person adopts the cat who was "too far gone to save", rescuing him from under a dumpster, and 6 months later, his transformation from crumpled tissue to fluffy house king is ameowzing

They told me he was too far gone to save. Six months later, he's the one running the house.

From a hungry, flea-ridden street cat to the most spoiled, confident king of the house. I found him sleeping under a dumpster six months ago. The glow-up still makes me tear up sometimes. Best decision I ever made.

He’s a total sweetheart and has definitely taken over the house. I can’t imagine life without my big floof now.

He’s perfected the 'CEO stare,' but in reality, he’s a total scaredy-cat. A falling leaf outside the window is enough to send the Boss running under the bed. I think his past as a stray made him a bit jumpy, so he just uses the 'tough guy' look as a shield.

It’s been an incredible journey with him. He really blossomed once he realized he was finally home.

At this point, we want to believe that no cat is “too far gone” to save. And maybe that is optimistic of us. Or maybe we have a skewed perspective when it comes to this because we only ever write stories about the cats who survive. But we really do believe it. We believe that a cat's chances of making it through anything are much, much greater when they have a caring human sitting next to them and wanting them to survive. They feel the hope, they hold onto it, and if there is anything to save, that hope is what helps them save it.

When the vet tells you that there is no hope, there is nothing more heartbreaking. But honestly, if there is any animal out there that would go out of their way to prove someone wrong, it's a cat. Maybe that is why they survive so often. Just out of spite. And we are thankful and are not about to argue with such a wonderful thing.
