Paul George gets real about how he views Jayson Tatum as the only superstar in Boston

After being traded from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Boston Celtics, it seems that Paul George is well aware of his role on his new team. While he was classed as a superstar during his prime, George knows that in Boston, there is only one superstar now, and that is Jayson Tatum.

That is a huge shift in the Celtics' roster dynamics because, over the past decade, Tatum and Jaylen Brown were the star players. While Tatum was seen as the better player, they knew that they were both the Celtics' stars. Now, it seems that George does not see himself as a leading co-star alongside Tatum.

Paul George sees Jayson Tatum as the Celtics' only star player

Even though Tatum just came back from a major Achilles injury, he seems ready to assume his role as the superstar again. He has recovered, and he had a lengthy summer, which involved taking a major rest.

Tatum will now be refreshed and ready to play within the Celtics' system under head coach Joe Mazzulla. It will be up to him to maximize every player on the Celtics roster, including George, who is a fresh face but a notable veteran player.

Since George was used to being a superstar player, adjusting to playing second fiddle to Tatum can be rough. However, it seems that George is taking it in stride to keep fighting for his role as one of the secondary players behind Tatum on the Celtics.

"We have a superstar, and that's JT. I'm not here to necessarily steal the shine or try to reinvent who I am. I'm here to help JT, and he's the guy. I've played alongside another superstar wing, and we co-existed beautifully," George said about his role on the Celtics during the introductory presser.

This is a big deal for the Celtics because they have pre-defined roles for the players. There won't be big adjustments to make for Tatum himself; he just has to learn how to work better. It will be an adjustment for George, but his time in Philly has helped him accept a lesser role.
