Paul Finebaum's latest comments spell doom for Kalen DeBoer at Alabama

1 hour ago 3

Paul Finebaum was recently asked his thoughts on the Alabama Crimson Tide and the upcoming home-and-home with the Ohio State Buckeyes. However, the ESPN analyst revealed more details than the series itself.

As it stands right now, there are games scheduled for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. But Finebaum sees Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne pulling out over the next two years.

"Based on what I’ve heard from (Bryne), he’s got a shaky situation there anyway with a coach that is in trouble," Finebaum told 97.1 The Fan last week.

Finebaum has been highly critical of Kalen DeBoer's tenure at Alabama, labeling the situation "daunting" and predicting a "bloodbath" following disappointing 2025 season results, including a 38-3 Rose Bowl loss to eventual champion Indiana. While nobody can compare to Nick Saban or the success he was able to obtain in Tuscaloosa, this seems like there's a situation brewing with DeBoer on the way out.

As for dropping the Buckeyes from the future scheduling, this is due to a nine-game conference schedule, which has been happening across the country.

Can DeBoer survive another year? Time will tell, but at this rate, it's becoming unlikely.
