A new rumor involving the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles makes the A.J. Brown situation even more interesting.
Of course, the Brown situation we're talking about pertains to trade rumors that have suggested the Patriots as the most likely landing spot for the Eagles wide receiver if he's traded during the offseason.
If that trade does go down, the expectation is it will come after June 1, when Philly will take on a lower dead-cap hit from dealing its star wideout.
And, if Brown does end up in New England, it might not be long before he lines up across from his current mates.
Eagles, Patriots could hold joint practices
According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, the Eagles and Patriots have had preliminary talks about holding joint practices together during the preseason.
"Vrabel and Eagles coach Nick Sirianni have had preliminary discussions about the possibility of having the teams practice together in the preseason -- likely in Foxborough, according to a league source," Reiss reported.
Reiss goes on to add that the two teams practicing together will depend upon if the NFL will allow the Eagles and Pats to face off in exhibition play, which Reiss says "isn't usually a major hurdle."
"Part of that would be tied to the NFL granting the teams' request to face each other in the preseason, which isn't usually a major hurdle. If it happens, the atmosphere and competition at the newly named New Balance Practice Fields would be buzzing," Reiss added.
Assuming Brown gets traded on June 2, it will only be two months between that going down and Brown practicing against the Eagles.
Of course, a preseason contest would ensue after those practices, but chances are we wouldn't see Brown taking the field in that game.
Regardless, having Brown in a Patriots uniform during a joint practice against the Patriots would no doubt add a ton of extra juice to the session.
