The Kansas City Chiefs officially announced plans to move from Missouri to a new domed stadium in Kansas beginning in 2031. The long-term vision immediately gave way to fan comments across social media.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly and Chiefs owner Clark Hunt confirmed the decision Monday. This ended months of debate over renovating Arrowhead Stadium versus building a new facility. Fans wasted no time questioning the move’s timing and cost.
One wrote, “Patrick Mahomes will be retired by then,” casting doubt on how much the franchise’s current era benefits from a stadium opening six years from now.•
