Paramount+ announces Texas Tech football docuseries amid Brendan Sorsby scandal

Texas Tech's football program is still in the midst of one of the wildest offseason periods in history. Brendan Sorsby's gambling saga has been a hot topic for many. The former Red Raiders quarterback won't be returning, and we'll soon get to see what happened behind-the-scenes.

Paramount+ announced Monday that a four-episode docuseries chronicling all the drama in Sorsby's situation will be coming soon. According to a release, the project will be directed by Micah Brown, who previously worked on Coach Prime and Untold: Sign Stealer for Prime Video and Netflix. Episode one is expected before the 2026 college football season.

Texas Tech secured Sorsby as one of the top transfers back in January. He reportedly inked a $5 million deal with the Red Raiders before admitting to placing over 9,000 bets during the course of his career at Indiana and Cincinnati. This included games he was involved in while with the Hoosiers back in 2022.

The unprecedented legal battle surrounding Sorsby took several turns, eventually ending with him declaring for the NFL Supplemental Draft, which wasn't held by the league. He now waits to enter the 2027 NFL Draft.

No storyline has been revealed by the production team at Paramount+. However, the focus can't be anything other than the fallout from Sorsby and Texas Tech's support during the legal process in Lubbock. Sorsby’s realistic football options remain uncertain as of right now. He'll enter the regular draft, but could go undrafted if teams deem his behavior to be detrimental to his future.

“This has proven to be a landscape-altering offseason, and we’ve been lucky to have a front row seat,” Skydance Sports Senior Vice President of Unscripted Greg Groggel said in a statement. “This series will present fans and viewers with an unprecedented window into everything that is defining college football today.”
