The Pittsburgh Steelers are taking their time signing a fourth quarterback—specifically, a veteran with a proven track record. Their patience suggests they believe something is in the works and that it will unfold according to plan, without any unexpected twists.
The Steelers reportedly believe that Aaron Rodgers will be that next guy, even if it's only a temporary solution, with recent draft pick Will Howard positioned as the eventual successor. OTA’s are about to begin, and while Rodgers hasn’t signed a deal yet, the rumor is that he’s given the team a verbal commitment.
“I just think verbally, behind the scenes, not that he guaranteed it, but he’s told [the Steelers], ‘Listen, I'm gonna play for you. I just don’t want to go there and then miss part of mandatory minicamp because of my personal issues. I'm pretty sure they're gonna be solved by the end of May, at least in my satisfaction where I can give you my all,’” Ian O’Connor said.
Former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson questioned Rodgers’ commitment to football if a deal isn’t made before OTAs.
“Then Aaron Rodgers obviously isn’t serious about playing football,” Johnson said. “And he’s not serious about his teammates rallying around him if he’s not at OTA’s.”
Despite the uncertainty, Rodgers may have all but confirmed his intention to join the Steelers without stating it outright. When asked if he would ever go to the Bears, he gave a response that strongly hints at a Pittsburgh connection.

“I believe there’s a team that might play in Chicago this year on a road trip,” Rodgers answered.
The veteran quarterback was referring to the Steelers’ scheduled Week 12 visit to Chicago to face the Bears. As for when a deal will be finalized, that remains unclear—but this is yet another indication pointing toward Aaron Rodgers becoming a Pittsburgh Steeler.
