– About the Talk: As creative professionals, we often rely on cloud drives to store, share, and collaborate – but what happens when that cloud storage no longer feels fully reliable, cost-effective, or performance-friendly? In this session, Chris Hau will walk you through how he reimagined his digital workflow, shifting from pure cloud storage toward a more resilient, hybrid model that combines cloud, work-fast local storage, and durable physical backups. You’ll learn: How to audit your current cloud storage: what files really need to stay online, what can be archived, and what really should live on fast local storage or physical drives. – A workflow blueprint: from capture → ingest → active edits → versioning → final export → archive. – Concrete use-cases with OWC solutions: how devices like their portable & desktop external SSDs, network-attached storage (NAS), and archive/tape solutions fit into each phase of your workflow. – Best practices for migrating large amounts of data: how to structure data, verify integrity (checksums, etc.), plan for redundancy, and avoid pitfalls (like partial uploads, version mismatches, unexpected costs). You’ll leave this session with a concrete plan to move toward a storage workflow that’s fast, safe, and fits both your creative needs and your peace of mind.
