Orioles will 'certainly' consider trade offers for 3X All-Star

The Baltimore Orioles are playing their best baseball of the season and are back in the postseason mix. 

Could the Orioles snag one of the three AL Wild Card spots? Catching up to the Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees for the division title is a much taller task. 

If the Orioles perform well over the next two weeks, they'll be looking to add, not subtract from the roster. 

That likely means a three-time All-Star is staying put. ESPN's Jeff Passan and Kiley McDaniel wrote that there's just a 30% chance the Orioles decide to move on from the 28-year-old. 

"The Orioles aren't exactly looking to trade [Adley] Rutschman, but they are certainly listening on the former No. 1 pick," Passan and McDaniel wrote. "Rutschman's renaissance this season has come at a great time for Baltimore: He's a free agent after next season, Baltimore has Samuel Basallo locked up long term, and there's almost no chance of the sides coming together on a long-term deal." 

With Basallo in Baltimore for the foreseeable future, Rutschman may not stick around past 2027 with the organization that drafted him No. 1 overall. 

Basallo's contract complicates his fit on the roster, though Rutschman has been a productive player in 2026 when healthy.

In 67 games this season, Rutschman is hitting .251//331/.433 with eight home runs, 47 RBIs, and a .764 OPS. That was enough to earn him his third All-Star selection. 

Currently, the switch hitter is on the 10-day IL with wrist inflammation. 

With "almost no chance" of Rutschman and the Orioles agreeing to an extension, the trade rumors will stretch into the offseason. 

For now, he may be staying put.
