The Baltimore Orioles added catching depth late Wednesday night.
They added a 31-year-old who has played parts of seven seasons in the Majors, spent mostly with the Atlanta Braves.
According to his MLB.com transactions page, Chadwick Tromp has signed a minor league deal with the Orioles. He enjoyed a six-game stint with the Orioles in 2025.
Both Adley Rutschman and Samuel Basallo are dealing with injuries, though neither of Baltimore's catchers is on the injured list.
Signing Tromp gives the Orioles some insurance behind the plate. Earlier this week, the Braves designated him for assignment.
Orioles have four potential MLB catchers
In 79 career games since the start of the 2020 season, Tromp has hit .218/.225/.371 with six home runs and a .596 OPS in 205 trips to the plate.

Like many other catchers around baseball, he is better known for his defense and handling a pitching staff than anything else.
The Orioles also have Sam Huff, who has started each of their last three games at catcher due to the nagging hamstring and wrist injuries to Rutschman and Basallo.
