Oregon Ducks QB Dante Moore reveals why he chose extra year of Big Ten football over NFL

It only took five days, but Oregon Ducks quarterback Dante Moore has come to a consensus: the dream is the NFL, but the growth and development are in Eugene

Appearing on "SportsCenter" Wednesday, Moore said he's returning to the Ducks this coming fall and foregoing a potential No. 2 overall NFL Draft selection.

Dante Moore reveals college vs. NFL decision

"Of course, I'll be coming back to Oregon for one more year," Moore said. "And being able to play for the Oregon Ducks, and, of course, reach our goal of being national champions."

Luckily for Moore, his team was one win away from clinching a national title berth before losing to the Indiana Hoosiers in the Peach Bowl. Now, Moore wants a chance to make up for his team's wrong.

Several analysts ultimately hinted Moore would return to school, including ESPN's Mel Kiper.

“Dante is 20 years old,” Kiper said on "Get Up." "Only 20 starts. That’s not enough. He said it after the game. ‘There’s some things I need to work on. I need more reps.’ Dante said it. You get those reps back at Oregon, not in the National Football League. You’ve got to get an A+ in college to go into the NFL. That last game, certainly, the overall year was good, not great. Dante Moore next year could be phenomenal.”

Moore said he looks forward to playing with some familiar faces next year and says there's more he needs to improve on to show he's ready for the next level.

He also said that he is gracious of Oregon fans and their support of him throughout the entire process, regardless of what decision he ultimately made.

Now, the objective to win a Big Ten championship couldn't be more obvious, much less make a run in the CFP toward the championship by season's end next year.

With quarterback Dylan Raiola as the likely backup, it should be an interesting season to say the least, and a fall camp to remember for two quarterbacks who both know what being the starting quarterback in the conference is all about.

For now, though, Moore said he "needs a vacation" before focusing on football again, and wants to soak in the moment for all of his hard work.

Come, August, the discussion about his ceiling will restart. For now, though, Oregon can proceed with winter workouts, knowing it has stability at the position.
