Dante Moore's Oregon precedent is likely why Dylan Raiola chose Ducks transfer anyway

Dante Moore laid out the blueprint.

Dylan Raiola has decided to follow it.

Maybe it's really that simple at Oregon, where the Nebraska transfer Raiola will have to sit for a year behind the returning QB Moore, who chose Wednesday to skip out on the NFL Draft until next year.

At surface level, it seems like an odd choice for Raiola, even coming off an injury.

But from his perspective, Raiola may have just watched what Moore did and thought it could work out for him, too.

The 2025 season wasn't Moore's first at Oregon. He transferred to the Ducks before the 2024 campaign.

Moore had been at UCLA, but he chose to join the Ducks, where he wound up being the backup to star QB Dillon Gabriel.

Only after a year of watching under Gabriel did Moore become the starter, and he used that springboard to put himself in the conversation to be a top-five NFL Draft pick.

Raiola, it appears, is taking the long view.

He chose Nebraska as a bit of an unexpected flip from Georgia during his recruiting process, and it gave him lots of game experience. It also gave him a pair of 7-6 seasons.

Now, Raiola has chosen a program with a proven track record of two things: winning, and producing NFL quarterbacks.

Raiola wants to be next on that list, at least after Moore. And so evidently he's just fine waiting behind Moore to reach those end goals.
