Opposing NBA coach defends Bam Adebayo after 83-point game

Following his 83-point game Tuesday night against the Washington Wizards, Bam Adebayo has been a trending topic to say the least.

Some were quick to congratulate Adebayo, commending his incredible performance while others criticized him and head coach Erik Spoelstra for tacking on in garbage time.

Another head coach around the league, David Adelman of the Denver Nuggets spoke about Adebayo's historic performance, defending the three-time All-Star.

"That guy is as professional as it gets in our league and what he stands for in the NBA. So for him to take one night and kind of go a little bit crazy, I don’t think it’s a bad thing."

Adelman went on to say that the Heat shouldn't be blamed either, especially considering that other teams have also fouled their opponents intentionally during a blowout, like in Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game or in Devin Booker's 70-point game.

Regardless of how it came, Adebayo has cemented himself into the history books with the second-highest single game points total in NBA history.

He also broke NBA records for the most free throws made in a game and for the most free throws attempted in a game.

Although his efforts may not have been as efficient as other 70+ point games by stars like Kobe Bryant, Luka Doncic, Donovan Mitchell and Damian Lillard, the points still count the same.

The Heat will return to action Thursday, at home against the Milwaukee Bucks where Adebayo will certainly have a tough act to follow.
