One QB will win the starting job in Cleveland, and his name is Colorado Buffaloes legend Shedeur Sanders

Since the Cleveland Browns’ minicamp has started, there has been a clear favorite at the quarterback position. Shedeur Sanders has had his horns locked in a battle with third-round pick Dillon Gabriel over the summer, and things are just heating up.

With speculation around New Orleans trading for Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, if that were to happen, the Dolphins would need a quarterback to challenge Quinn Ewers for the starting job, and why wouldn’t it end this whole battle in Cleveland by trading Dillon Gabriel to Miami after New Orleans grabs Tua?

Others believe that Cleveland will “ditch” both Shedeur and Gabriel to end up with the number one overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. This shouldn't happen when you look at the Browns roster.

Overall, look at who Shedeur would be playing with.

Jerry Jeudy, Nick Chubb, David Njoku, just to name a few, not to mention Cleveland still has one of the better offensive lines, and their defense is no slouch. If Chubb is healthy and able to run like he used to, there is no reason why the Browns could have a successful year building this team around Shedeur.

There are also analysts out there, like Dan Orlovsky, who believe Dillon Gabriel is similar to Tua.

“He’s played a ton of football, he’s got a lot of similarities to a player like Tua [Tagovailoa], not only lefty and whatnot. The ball distribution, the anticipation, the layering over guys, so Miami, I thought, was an interesting place for him, maybe in that second round or third round, but I don’t think Gabriel is a guy people should overlook. He’s a really talented thrower,” former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst said.”

That is big praise from someone who used to play on Sunday, it would also make sense for the Dolphins if Mike McDaniels wanted another shot at a Tua-like prospect again in an already very speedy offense like he had at Oregon.
