One of John Cena's closest WWE friends praises Gunther, calls him a "special talent"

John Cena unexpectedly tapped out to Gunther in his retirement match on December 13 at Saturday Night's Main Event. One of Cena's close friends in WWE surprisingly praised The Ring General and called him a "special talent."

At SNME, the man known for his motto of "Never Give Up" shockingly gave up in his final match. Gunther made good on his promise and has not turned into one of the biggest heels in the business.

The Miz, a rival-turned-friend of Cena's, had nothing but praise for the two-time World Heavyweight Champion in an interview on UNLIKELY with Adrian Hernandez. He also claimed that every babyface wants to work with the Austrian superstar.

"Every good guy wants to work a guy like him because he has such immense heat and such great ability. He hits hard. He's a type of person that can make every bad guy turn into a good guy. Hence me. When I fought him, it was bad guy versus bad guy. And guess what? He turned me into the good guy, which doesn't happen very often. And it takes a very special talent to do that, and he was able to do that," The Miz said.

The man formerly known as WALTER has teased going after AJ Styles, as well as CM Punk. There have also been rumors that he could go after Brock Lesnar next year. Nevertheless, The Ring General's reputation as a "legend killer" continues to grow.

John Cena's father also praised Gunther

John Cena's father was not a fan of Gunther being his son's final WWE opponent. However, the elder Cena told Justin Barrasso of Undisputed on Substack that he loved the retirement match against the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history.

"That match was excellent. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Gunther. He and John wrestled a great match together. They had people on the edge of their seats that entire match," Cena's father said.

For those unaware, John Cena shared the same name as his father, but he's not a junior because they have different middle names. John Joseph is the elder Cena, while John Felix turned into WWE's GOAT.
