As the holidays near, the Minnesota Timberwolves (17-10) continue their five-game homestand at Target Center on Friday when they host the OKC Thunder (25-2).
The Timberwolves are coming off a 116-110 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday. So far in December, Minnesota has posted a 6-2 record. This matchup marks the second of a five-game homestand for the Timberwolves, and they will need to pull out all the stops to try to hand the reigning champions their third loss of the season.
OKC, on the other hand, arrives in Minnesota fresh off a 122-101 win over the struggling LA Clippers on Thursday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to put together strong performances, scoring a team-high 32 points while adding six assists and seven rebounds. It marked his 20th 30-point game of the season.

This matchup is the second of a two-game road back-to-back for the Thunder. They had a four-day break after a 111-109 loss to the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Cup semifinals, a defeat that ended OKC’s 16-game winning streak. They will be aiming to start a new streak and extend it to two before heading back home.

The Timberwolves are on the cusp of welcoming Anthony Edwards back into the lineup. The guard has missed the last three games with a foot injury. Head coach Chris Finch said Tuesday that Edwards has been participating in regular practices with the team, but whether he will receive the green light to return remains up in the air. Edwards is still listed as questionable, and his exact status should be known closer to tipoff.
Shooting guard Jaylen Clark is also listed as questionable with an illness, while Mike Conley will miss his fourth straight game due to an Achilles injury.
Barring any late setbacks, Coach Finch is expected to go with a starting lineup of Julius Randle, Jaden McDaniels, Rudy Gobert, Donte DiVincenzo and Bones Hyland.
