Anthony Edwards had himself a night in the Timberwolves' stunning 117-112 win over Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's Thunder on Saturday. Edwards, who returned to the lineup for the first time since Dec. 8, clamped Gilgeous-Alexander on two consecutive possessions, after scoring the go-ahead 3-pointer to put the Wolves up 108-107 with 38 seconds left.
His decisive performance was the key to Minnesota's unexpected win, which erased a 12-point first-quarter deficit it had endured right after coach Chris Finch's ejection. The Wolves were the underdogs at that point, but they kept up with the Thunder the rest of the way. It eventually paid off in the final two minutes.
Edwards finished with 26 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks on 9 of 20 shots, including 3 of 6 from deep and 5 of 6 from the free-throw line. The Timberwolves improved to 18-10, while OKC suffered its third loss of the season.
