The Edmonton Oilers are on the road to play the Florida Panthers in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals on June 9.
The Oilers lost Game 2 in double overtime as the series is tied, and Edmonton needs to get home ice back.
Heading into Game 3, here are the Oilers' projected lines.
Oilers projected lineup for Game 3
Forwards
- Ryan Nugent-Hopkins - Connor McDavid - Corey Perry
- Evander Kane - Leon Draisaitl - Kasperi Kapanen
- Trent Frederic - Adam Henrique - Connor Brown
- Vasily Podkolzin - Mattias Janmark - Viktor Arvidsson
The Oilers are without Zach Hyman for the entire Cup Finals. But, Edmonton could also be without Nugent-Hopkins, who's a game-time decision.
"We think (he’ll be available),” Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch said, via NHL.com. “We’ll play it by ear.”Defense
- Darnell Nurse - Evan Bouchard
- Brett Kulak - Jake Walman
- Mattias Ekholm - John Klingberg
Edmonton's blue line has been great this season and these playoffs. The Oilers have some great offensive defenseman like Bouchard, and have a shutdown defenseman in Ekholm.
Goalies
- Stuart Skinner
- Calvin Pickard
Skinner will be back in the net for the Oilers this season. He's 7-5 with a 2.61 GAA and a .901 SV% in the playoffs.
Oilers confident heading into Florida
Edmonton is heading back to Florida for a pivotal Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
The Oilers lost in Game 7 in Florida in the Cup Final last year. This time around, Edmonton has confidence in their group that this will be a different story.
“No matter how much time passes, it will always be on your mind, especially when you get that close,” Knoblauch said. “But I think right now, being here, everyone’s concentration is on right now. So, I don’t think (past memories) help anything."I think we’re in a new stage, in our season, on our path, and we’re just focused on what we need to do right now.”Edmonton is a +120 underdog in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals. The Oilers are +100 to win the Stanley Cup now with the series tied.
