Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith accuses CFB powerhouse of tampering with him to transfer

8 hours ago 5

Jeremiah Smith might be the single most talented player in college football.

The Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver is two years into his NCAA career, likely with just one left before leaving for the NFL.

And this offseason, teams wanted him to transfer to their program.

That is, of course, despite Smith never entering the transfer portal.

Everyone sort of assumes tampering happens. Smith affirmed that in recent comments to local reporters.

He also explained that one school, which he wouldn't name, was particularly involved in the pursuit.

“I knew especially at the end of (the Cotton Bowl) that a certain program was going to come at me very hard," Smith said. "Not gonna say no names, I think everybody here knows who it was. But I wasn’t goin’ nowhere.”

The natural assumption here is the University of Miami.

Smith is a Miami native, and he very likely could've ended up with the Hurricanes out of high school if their return to prominence had happened a few seasons earlier.

Instead, he went to Ohio State, which is essentially Wide Receiver U at this point, and he has thrived there.

The odds at this point are that Smith will be the top WR selected in the 2027 NFL Draft after one more impressive season at Ohio State.

He's not going anywhere, even if other programs think they can change his mind.
