Oba Femi opened the show at Saturday Night's Main Event with a short but instant classic against The American Nightmare, Cody Rhodes. Femi paid tribute to John Cena in a great way.

At Saturday Night's Main Event, the final night of John Cena's in-ring career, according to the man himself, was not an end, but merely the beginning. It was meant to be a showcase for the future of WWE, and that included three NXT stars and one TNA superstar (Leon Slater). Of course, the NXT Champion needed to be there, and thus Oba Femi was thrust into the spotlight after regaining his title from Ricky Starks at Deadline a little under a week ago.

During his match against Cody Rhodes, Oba Femi repeated what he said the previous night, telling The American Nightmare, "My time is now" in a tribute to the legendary John Cena.

Of course, things would eventually fall apart as Drew McIntyre interrupted and caused the match to end in a DQ. It was an instant classic that fell apart, and the crowd was understandably furious at the finish. However, perhaps not as furious as The Ruler himself, who would join Cody Rhodes to take McIntyre out. Following this, Cody and Femi would raise each other's hands, having newfound respect for one another.

This match was a mere litmus test to see how the crowds would react, and it's safe to say that, based on the little we got to see of this epic interaction and match, WWE is more than likely to run it back properly down the line someday when Femi is a full-fledged, established main roster superstar. For now, he will go back to NXT, where he has a plate full of contenders, including the likes of Ricky Starks and Tony D'Angelo.
