An NYPD patrol car was captured in wild dash camera footage colliding with a pedestrian jogging in a crosswalk while officers responded to a reported theft in Columbus Circle on Saturday afternoon.
At least two cops were responding to the emergency call around 4 p.m. when a woman ran straight into their car at West 58 Street and Eighth Avenue, according to witness’ video obtained by The Post.
The patrol vehicle, which had its alarms blaring and lights flashing, turned the corner against traffic. The pedestrian stepped off the sidewalk at the same time and smacked into the side of the moving car.
The woman was propelled backwards and slammed face-first against the pavement. She turned herself onto her back and laid on the road in an apparent daze while the officers exited the vehicle to help her, according to the video.
A startled cyclist also came within inches of hitting the woman after she fell.
The jogger sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment from EMS at the scene, according to the NYPD.
The NYPD said that the officers were en route to a larceny in progress when it made the left hand turn into Columbus Circle.
It’s unclear if officers are permitted to drive against traffic during emergency responses.
