Nuggets NBA champion viewed as real suitor for Lakers for Jonathan Kuminga reason

Former Denver Nuggets NBA champion Bruce Brown remains on the free-agent market, a situation that doesn't come as much of a surprise.

While it was a very impressive few years for Brown just a few seasons ago when he won a championship with the Nuggets and signed a rather large deal with the Indiana Pacers, his career hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows since. However, Brown is still a respectable player in his own right and could be used on a contending team.

One team in particular that makes a lot of sense for Brown would be the Los Angeles Lakers, with one Sports Illustrated writer suggesting that he could be a nice piece to what Los Angeles is looking to do.

“Although he’s not the same player he was when he won an NBA title playing alongside Nikola Jokic with the Denver Nuggets, Bruce Brown isn’t a bad option for the Lakers. He doesn’t bring the size that Kuminga or Williams do, but Brown has championship experience, along with being a decent rebounder and defender, and can be another reliable ballhandler off the bench.

“Brown played in all 82 regular-season games with the Nuggets last season, averaging 7.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steals per game, shooting 47.5 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from three-point range,” Ryan Ward wrote.

Brown, at least at this stage of his career, probably isn't a guy who's going to come in and play 30-plus minutes a night, especially in the playoffs, but he might not be a terrible option as a regular-season player.

The Lakers will ultimately have to decide whether to go that route or try to land a player who can help them more when it matters most.
