Team Canada’s men’s hockey roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics remains mostly unconfirmed, but speculation is heating up after an apparent merchandise leak.

Hockey Canada officially announced the six players in June as Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, Brayden Point and Sam Reinhart. These nominations are the only confirmed selections so far. The full roster is expected to be revealed on Dec. 31.

On Monday, Reddit users spotted Fanatics Canada selling Team Canada 2026 jerseys with names not officially announced including Nick Suzuki, Mitch Marner and Brad Marchand. The listings were quickly removed.

However, screenshots of the listings have been circulating on social media platforms. Following are some fan reactions from X:

“Please not Marner.”

“Marner?! Why tho…,” wrote one user. “Suzuki? Yikes. Next you’re going to tell me Stone is making the team,” quipped one fan.

Some comments condemned the alleged choice of players while some leaned into lighthearted remarks.

“Which intern gets the blame for this?” joked one user. “Somebody in Canada management office is dreaming of a Bennett Reinhart Marchand line at the Olympics.”

Canada will compete in the Olympic men’s hockey tournament from February 11 to 22, 2026. With NHL players back for the first time since 2014, expectations are high. The official roster announcement on Dec. 31 will clarify which players will represent Canada.

Nick Suzuki opens up on his aspirations of making Team Canada’s Olympic roster

Montreal Canadiens star Nick Suzuki shared his thoughts earlier this week on the intense process of trying to secure a spot on Team Canada’s Olympic roster.

Suzuki had won gold with Canada White at the 2015 World U‑17 Hockey Challenge and later represented his country at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup and 2019 World Junior Championships. Despite being one of the final cuts from Canada’s 2018 gold-medal World Junior team, Suzuki has received invitations to senior national team events though he has yet to make his senior debut.

“I’ve been nervous and there’s definitely been some anxiety about it,” Suzuki admitted. “When you don’t play the best game, you feel like you maybe played your way off the team. You play a good game, you feel like you did something good to make the team.”

Suzuki said he is focused on continuing to perform at a high level.

“I felt after the 4 Nations break, I’ve played some really good hockey. I just try to show that I can do anything they ask of me,” he explained.

So far this season, Suzuki has been a key contributor for the Canadiens recording 11 goals, 31 assists and a plus-minus of +12 in 38 games.

While he hasn’t received official word yet, Suzuki said he expects the selection process to remain tight until the roster is announced.
