"Not firing Eberflous is actually disgusting": Micah Parsons' brother takes shot at Jerry Jones' decision to release Trevon Diggs

The Dallas Cowboys waived two-time All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs on Tuesday, sparking backlash toward owner Jerry Jones for sticking with defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus amid ongoing defensive struggles.

Jones has supported Eberflus, framing the Cowboys’ defensive issues as a collective failure. That stance has drawn scrutiny, as the team fields the NFL’s worst scoring defense.

Diggs’ exit may signal the beginning of a defensive overhaul in Dallas. However, the decision has not been well received by many, as critics, including Green Bay Packers star Micah Parsons's brother, Terrence Parsons Jr.

"I can’t lie cutting diggs and not firing eberflous is actually disgusting," Terrence Parsons posted on X on Tuesday.

Micah was going to be a part of Matt Eberflus’ defense, but he left the Cowboys ahead of the 2025 season, and his absence has been felt. After finishing last season with 52 sacks, Dallas has managed only 31 through 16 games this year.

While it’s fair to say any coordinator would struggle after losing a generational defender just days before the season, the continued lack of adjustment points to a deeper issue.

Jerry Jones promises that the Cowboys' defense will get better in 2026

Jerry Jones wrapped up his final morning radio appearance of the season on Tuesday with a message aimed at frustrated Dallas Cowboys fans after a year of defensive struggles.

Speaking on 105.3 The Fan, Jones acknowledged the team’s shortcomings and promised improvement.

“We’ve got to have a more solid defense. That’s disappointing this year,” he said. “We will get better on defense. I promise you that.”

Jones’ promise to improve the defense may hint at major changes in Dallas this offseason, but the reality is that expectations couldn’t be much lower. The Cowboys’ defense has been one of the worst units in the league, allowing 376.8 yards per game through 17 weeks, the third-worst mark in the NFL.

Dallas has been vulnerable through the air, giving up an NFL-high 253.6 passing yards per game. No defense has allowed more passing touchdowns (33), more points per game (29.8), or a higher passer rating (109.7) to opposing quarterbacks this season.

One realistic way Jerry Jones may attempt to correct the Cowboys’ defensive issues is by moving on from Matt Eberflus after Sunday’s season finale against the New York Giants.
