The White House has responded to Marjorie Taylor Greene's recent claims about Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein. She claimed that the US President allegedly yelled at her after she pushed for the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

Marjorie Taylor Greene used to be a huge supporter of Donald Trump until earlier this year. However, this year, they have developed some differences over issues such as the Israel-Gaza conflict and the Epstein Files. Greene pushed for the release of these files, as promised by the US President during his election campaign.

This led to a major falling out between them, with Trump also labeling her a "traitor". On November 21, Greene announced that she would resign from Congress on January 5, 2026. Ahead of her resignation, she gave an interview with the New York Times, published on December 28. She claimed that Donald Trump told her the reason for not wanting to release the Epstein Files, allegedly saying:

“My friends will get hurt.”

The White House spokesperson, David Ingle, responded to this claim and said (h/t The Guardian):

“President Trump remains the undisputed leader of the greatest and fastest growing political movement in American history – the MAGA movement. On the other hand, Congresswoman Greene is quitting on her constituents in the middle of her term and abandoning the consequential fight we’re in – we don’t have time for her petty bitterness.”

Blogger Perez Hilton reacted to this on his website. He explained the entire situation and claimed that the White House's statement didn't deny Marjorie Taylor Greene's statements, writing:

"That’s not a denial!"

The Epstein Files Transparency Act was eventually passed in November, with Trump signing on to it as well. The US Department of Justice has since released a few documents from the files, but they have been heavily redacted, which has led to some backlash.

During the 2024 election campaign, Donald Trump had indicated that he would release the Epstein Files if he were to become the president. There were doubts about this, as there were multiple pictures of him with the late pedophile himself. Moreover, after he became the president, he appeared to be hesitant in working towards releasing these files.

Explaining how the media affected how she saw Trump's promise during the election campaigns, Greene said:

“The story to me. was that I’d seen pictures of Epstein with all these people. And Trump is just one of several. And then, for me, I’d seen that Bill Clinton is on the flight logs for his plane like 20-something times. So, for people like me, it wasn’t suspicious. And then we’d heard the general stories of how Epstein used to be a member of Mar-a-Lago, but Trump kicked him out. Why would I think he’s done anything wrong, right?”

She further said:

“The Epstein files represent everything wrong with Washington. Rich, powerful elites doing horrible things and getting away with it. And the women are the victims.”

Meanwhile, the DOJ announced earlier this month that it has discovered "over a million more" documents in the Epstein Files. They said that they are working tirelessly to release these files.
