North (Phoenix) emerged victorious across four games earlier this month at Section 7 to win an OrthoArizona bracket filled with solid Arizona competition.
The Mustangs blew out Apollo 61-23 in their opener, edged out Del Sol (NV) 61-53 and Desert Mountain 48-43 to make the finals, and cruised past Chaparral 73-51 for a title.

— Section 7 (@Section7Az) June 15, 2025North comes off a strong 2024-25 campaign in which it went 21-6 overall and 10-2 in conference play with just one senior. Returning leading scorers Xxylina Flores (17.3 points, 3.9 assists, 4.9 steals) and Esefani Brunson (13.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.8 steals) in addition to leading rebounder Alyssa Dickerson (6.3 points, 9.5 points, 2.3 steals) and several other contributors, the Mustangs are a strong bet to continue their year-over-year growth for at least the next two seasons.
And that's before factoring in at least one major addition. North has added one of the top incoming freshman in Arizona, versatile guard/wing Tahjie Freeman, who was one of the team's top players at Section 7. Freeman stands close to six feet tall and has a chance to expedite the Mustangs' rise up the Arizona high school girls basketball food chain – especially if their Section 7 performance was any indication.
