Norman Powell’s chances of becoming a first-time all-star

The Miami Heat is going through quite an interesting season so far. With the record of 15-14, they currently rank as the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference while being second in their division behind the Orlando Magic. The Heat achieved a six-game winning streak, beating teams like the New York Knicks, the Golden State Warriors, and the Dallas Mavericks

However, they’ve recently gone through a five-game skid, losing to teams like the Orlando Magic, the Toronto Raptors, and the Sacramento Kings. Despite it all, the team has one player who’s been consistent almost every game he’s played through the wins and losses. That man is none other than Norman Powell.

First-time All-star

Norman Powell has proven to the league that he has the skills and determination to become a future all-star. After being snubbed from last year’s selection, he’s doing whatever he can to cement his spot, especially with his newfound home in the Miami Heat organization. He’s currently averaging 24 points while shooting 48% from the field and 41% from the three-point line.

His role on the team isn’t going to diminish even with star players like Bam Adebayo or Tyler Herro sharing the court, either. Powell’s ability to draw much-needed fouls, consistent three-point shooting, and share basketball knowledge as a veteran is what helps keep this franchise together. As the season continues, there’ll be no question that he’ll achieve his first all-star milestone.
