Tokyo Toni has defended Nicki Minaj after the rapper faced major backlash over the last few weeks for her vocal support for Donald Trump and the MAGA movement.
In a TikTok shared on December 24, Tokyo Toni openly supported Nicki Minaj and her support for Trump and the Republicans. Toni spoke in the context of seeing an image titled "Nicki Trump", and sent a message to the rapper, saying:
"I seen a picture saying Nikki Trump, let me say this to Nikki first, Nikki, you're winning. You're one of the most smartest people I've met, aside from myself and my mother. Nikki is strategic. I'd rather have you in my back pocket, then no way around it all."She continued:
"Whether I like you or not, let me put you in my back pocket. I'm put you in my back pocket. I'm gonna put the UN in my back pocket. I'm put all the important people in my back pocket. The public isn't important. You're not important to nobody, not to politicians, not to celebrities. They don't speak to you for you or about you."Further, Tokyo Toni claimed it was a "smart" move on Nicki Minaj's part to keep President Trump in her "backpocket". She added:
"No, they don't speak up for religion. Well, Miss Minaj Onika, smart, smart. See, I don't hear one mouth saying, well, 50 Cent, mess with him just as hard you."The discourse about Nicki Minaj's political beliefs began after the rapper showed her support for President Trump and the MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement. Minaj also spoke about the alleged deportation of Christians in Nigeria in a United Nations event, which has generated controversy, as there have been doubts about the facts of the matter.
Further, she was also a guest at the 2025 America Fest, where she had a live conversation with Charlie Kirk's widow, Erika Kirk.

Earlier this month, on December 12, Toni shared a TikTok video where she claimed Minaj did nothing wrong by supporting the Republican president. She said:
“Let me make this real quick, OK? First, Nicki Minaj. She ain’t do nothing wrong but follow Donald Trump. I don’t hear a mother-f*cking soul say sh*t about 50 [Cent] loving Donald Trump, hanging with Donald Trump, taking pictures with Donald Trump, telling Donald Trump to keep another Black man down, in jail. B**ch, please. She did the right thing. I’m about to follow him, too."Toni's mention of 50 Cent refers to the rapper claiming he will vote for Trump ahead of the 2024 Presidential elections. Cent has been a clear supporter of the Republican over Vice President Kamala Harris, who was his running mate in the last elections. Further, she mentioned Cent asking the President to keep a "black man down", referring to the rapper saying Diddy won't be pardoned by Trump.
Further, Tokyo Toni also questioned why people were "mad" about Trump. She also addressed Trump's controversial policies about immigrants and the ongoing ICE raids that have been happening all over the United States. She said:
"F*ck you mad about? Get the f*ck off welfare! What did he really do to anybody? Wasn’t y’all crying about they was coming, taking your welfare, and [how] y’all ain’t getting nothing? Now he get them out of here, now y’all are crying? ... I don’t give a f*ck what he did."Despite the backlash, Nicki Minaj continued to show her support for the current government, while also hailing Trump for his policies.
