Nicki Minaj vs. California Governor Gavin Newsom- Social media beef explained 

Nicki Minaj has taken aim at California Governor Gavin Newsom in her recent social media posts. In the last few days, she wrote numerous posts on X (formerly Twitter), slamming Newsom's support for trans people.

It all began with Gavin Newsom's appearance on The Ezra Klein Show, released on December 9, 2025. While discussing the topic of trans athletes, he said:

“I want to see trans kids… There’s no governor that’s done more pro-trans legislation than I have. No one has been a stronger advocate for the LGBT community.”

This led to some backlash against him from the Republicans and their supporters. Nicki Minaj also joined in the criticism, as she wrote in an X post on December 12:

"Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids. Haha. Not even a trans ADULT would run on that. Normal adults wake up & think they want to see HEALTHY, SAFE, HAPPY kids. Not Gav. The Gav Nots. GavOUT. Send in the next guy, I’m bored."

Notably, many expect Gavin Newsom to be the next presidential candidate from the Democrats. Hinting that he might not get that position, Minaj added:

"Gavin is the cute boy who got everything handed to him b/c of how cute & sexy & hot & smoking he was. Oohhh look @‘m. Sitting there in that suit with the sneakers on. He thinks he’s Tom Cruise only difference is, his next mission IS impossible. He should get another leading role"

In another post, Nicki Minaj added that it is "the end of the road" for Newsom. She said that he should leave "this race that he will not win". She later posted a tweet in support of Donald Trump and JD Vance, labeling them the "good guys".

Gavin Newsom responds to Nicki Minaj's comments with Megan Thee Stallion reference

On Saturday, December 13, Gavin Newsom uploaded a video on his social media handles showing Donald Trump with the dead child sex trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein. He chose Megan Thee Stallion's track, Hiss, as the background song.

Stallion released Hiss in 2024 as a diss song against multiple artists, including Nicki Minaj. In one verse, she raps:

"These h*es don't be mad at Megan/ These h*es mad at Megan's Law/ I don't really know what the problem is/ But I guarantee, y'all don't want me to start/ B**ch, you a p**sy, never finna check me every chance you get/ Bet yo weak a*s won't address me."

Minaj then appeared to respond to this tweet with multiple posts on Saturday. She first labeled Gavin Newsom "scum" before writing in another post:

"I hate Gavin’s new salt&pepper shake front. I mean Lace front. RIP it off."

In another post, the rapper uploaded a picture of Newsom behind bars and wrote in the caption:

"Career politician at the brink of his moment realigns to become nothing more than a Nicki Minaj ANTI. OOF. So now he’s the guy running on “wanting to see trans kids” AND willing to lower himself to becoming just another FEMALE RAPPER to get obliterated by NICKI MINAJ."

She shared multiple such posts on X, but Newsom hasn't responded to them by the time of writing this article.
