Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs could be eliminated in Week 15. NFL insider Adam Schefter listed the four scenarios that could end the Chiefs' season.

Here is the way the Chiefs can be eliminated from postseason contention today:

  • Kansas City Chiefs lose to the Los Angeles Chargers
  • Buffalo Bills beats or ties the New England Patriots.
  • Jacksonville Jaguars beat or tie the New York Jets.
  • Houston Texans beat the Arizona Cardinals.

If all four of those scenarios play out, the Kansas City Chiefs are out. NFL fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to react to the scenarios.

A fan said, "All of those things are highly likely to happen." Another added, "Please just close the door already." One wrote, "This Chiefs team just isn’t good enough next year."

Some fans were more optimistic

One said, "Yikes, that’s a brutal domino effect for KC. Everything has to hit just right—and wrong—for them to miss out. If even one result flips, they’re still alive." Another wrote, "the Chiefs He has to do it right, even though it no longer depends on them." One chipped in, saying, "Great."

The Kansas City Chiefs have reached the playoffs in every season of the Andy Reid-Patrick Mahomes era. The Chiefs have won three Super Bowl games in the era, and are arguably the most recent dynasty in professional football.

However, this season has been less than ideal for the AFC giants. They're now potentially a couple of results away from watching playoff football from home in January.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are up against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15

The Kansas City Chiefs have no effect on the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets, Houston Texans, or Arizona Cardinals. They do have control over how they play against Jim Harbaugh's Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15.

The Chiefs have lost four of their last five games and are on the brink of playoff elimination. They enter the game with loads of pressure and the knowledge that anything less than a win would be detrimental to their fading postseason chances.

In front of Patrick Mahomes and Co. is a red-hot Los Angeles Chargers team. The Chargers have won four of their last five games and sit in second place in the AFC West. The Chargers are looking to do the double over Andy Reid's team following their Week 1 win.
