Nick Nurse admits Tyrese Maxey's latest injury scare could be significant for the 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers have been an impressive team this season despite all the injuries they have gone through. They have a superstar duo of Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, who have both struggled with injuries over the years. Despite that, they continue to impress with their production.

Maxey has continued to be superb for the 76ers, as he has been the team's best player this season. Unfortunately, Maxey might miss some time due to his latest injury scare. He kept grabbing his right hand after colliding with his teammate, Adem Bona, which is scary for coach Nick Nurse and the 76ers.

Nurse gets honest about how Maxey's injury could affect the 76ers

The 76ers lost 125-116 to the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday, which would have been a tough loss to stomach. However, it got even worse when Maxey collided with Bona in the last few seconds of the game. He fell to the floor, grabbing his hand, and he could not withstand the pain until the buzzer.

This is not a good look for the 76ers because they are already struggling without Embiid due to his oblique injury. If they play without Maxey, they could slide further down the Eastern Conference standings. Nurse still has some good players, but losing both stars is a significant blow.

After the game, Nurse was dismissive about the possibility of a major injury. However, that does not strike any optimism from the locker room because it is not definitive. Tony Jones of The Athletic said that Maxey had no noticeable wrap in the locker room, but he will receive additional testing.

"It's huge, right? With what we got going on right now, with some of the guys out. Obviously, he's just another key player, but we'll see. I won't make any judgments or think about it until we find out for sure," Nurse said to the Sixers Wire's Ky Carlin in the locker room after the game.

It will be tough to play games without Maxey because he is the team's best offensive players. Add that Embiid is also struggling with an injury, and it proves that the team is struggling even more. It will be challenging to get past that, and they will continue to have problems.
