The Cleveland Browns are now 2-8 on the season and are clearly headed toward a rebuild. Many of their best players are aging veterans, and the team could benefit from shedding some veteran contracts as well in the coming months as the 2024 NFL Season closes out.
Well, perhaps the most beloved Browns player in quite some time, Nick Chubb, is a free agent following the season and is coming off of a horrid knee injury. Chubb has returned from brutal knee injuries before, but the RB position in the NFL is a bit tricky, and it may not be likely for the team to bring Chubb back with a rebuild on the horizon.
Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report thinks that the Browns' RB could extend his career if he left Cleveland and signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency:
"There's a chance that the four-time Pro Bowler could revitalize his career in Cleveland, if the Browns can stabilize the offensive line and settle on a capable signal-caller. He'll be a free agent in the offseason, though, and may not want to finish his career as part of whatever rebuild is coming to Cleveland.
Instead, Chubb should try to finish his career with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs—and, yes, plenty of players may want to do the same." -- Kristopher Knox
Honestly, I am not sure the Browns would even extend a contract offer to Nick Chubb given what has happened over the last year for him and the Browns. The Dawg Pound may have to deal with their stud running back taking some type of discount for the chance to play with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
