Giants head coach Brian Daboll makes preposterous decision related to former Broncos QB

Sometimes in professional sports, you have to ask yourself, "What is this team doing"? That is certainly the case with the current New York Giants.

The team is completely hamstrung by the massive contract it gave to Daniel Jones, who has never been better than mediocre. Jones has been benched, likely for the remainder of this season. But that's not the surprise.

Not only has Jones been benched, but he won't even be the backup. He has been relegated to third string. So that should make former Denver Broncos quarterback Drew Lock the starter, right? Wrong.

Head coach Brian Daboll announced that Tommy DeVito, who has been the team's third-string quarterback all season, will skip the line and become the team's starter. Both of these decisions are financially motivated, regardless of what Daboll says.

Daboll's seat is reportedly getting warm and he is turning to DeVito because of the "spark he provided" last season. If that's the case, why was he your third-string QB all season?

Instead, what is really going on is the business side of the NFL is taking over. The Giants have decided that they will be moving onto a new quarterback this season and they are going to move Jones to the third-string slot to prevent him from getting hurt and being owed big money in guarantees due to his contract.

Broncos fans know this situation well because it's exactly what the team did to Russell Wilson last season.

In the case of Lock, the guy who has been the No. 2 quarterback all season, here is the real reason why Daboll is playing DeVito instead of him:

It looks a lot more like the Giants are waving the white flag and just want to save some money. Daboll might be waving the white flag on his career in New York as a result.

Lock was the Broncos' second-round pick in 2019 and though he didn't pan out with the team, he was never really given much of a chance to either. He made 18 starts for the Broncos and completed 59.3 percent of his throws while throwing for 4,740 yards and 25 touchdowns.

He then played for the Seattle Seahawks as the backup to Geno Smith before joining the Giants this offseason.
