Nice to Not Meet You recap of episodes 15–16 and ending explained: Hyun-jun and Jung-sin expose Chairman Lee as love, loss, and reunion shape the finale

Everyone begins guessing the identity of the person, fueling rumors about his possible romantic partner. Wi Jung-sin hears the gossip but chooses to remain silent.

At the same time, Gawn Se-na visits Jung-sin to offer a clue regarding the ongoing investigation into Chairman Lee. She urges her to publish the findings as quickly as possible, explaining that releasing the report will allow her to free herself from the situation.

Jung-sin, her boss Yun Hwa-yong, and Ju Jae-hyeong begin preparing the exposé, carefully waiting for the right timing to release it. Meanwhile, Jung-sin becomes a direct target. One evening, while she is returning home from work, a man armed with a taser attempts to attack her.

At that exact moment, Im Hyun-jun arrives and upon seeing Hyun-jun’s car, the attacker flees. Jung-sin collapses to the ground in shock and relief. The incident leaves Hyun-jun deeply shaken and anxious about her safety.

Later, Chairman Lee summons Im Hyun-jun to his office. There, Hyun-jun recognizes the same man who has tried to attack Jung-sin, which unsettles him. During the meeting, Chairman Lee brings up Kingsback and implies that Hyun-jun must have been affected by CEO Hong’s unfair dismissal.

He also probes whether Wi Jung-sin is someone close to Hyun-jun. Realizing the underlying threat, Hyun-jun refuses to comment on Jung-sin and instead speaks about the injustice surrounding CEO Hong’s removal.

This enrages Chairman Lee, who violently attacks the taser-wielding man untill Hyun-jun intervenes and disarms him. Chairman Lee then coldly asserts that nothing ever goes against his wishes.

The incident further convinces Hyun-jun that Jung-sin is in serious danger. He goes to check on her and ensure her safety, only to find that she has contracted the flu and must remain quarantined. Concerned, he suggests that she stay at his house.

During her stay, Jung-sin meets Hyun-jun’s mother. In their conversation, Jung-sin shares that Hyun-jun once told her he has became an actor because of his mother. This deeply moves her, and after Hyun-jun returns home, his mother reconciles with him, improving their strained relationship.

After Jung-sin recovers, Hyun-jun proposes that they expose Chairman Lee together. Their plan involves a live television interview that is publicly framed as a promotional event for the detective series Hyun-jun is starring in.

During the broadcast, Hyun-jun unexpectedly shifts the conversation and accuses Chairman Lee of unfairly taking over his company and dismissing CEO Hong. Hyun-jun then invites Jung-sin onto the live broadcast.

She appears on camera and explains the full extent of Chairman Lee’s crimes, detailing the corruption involving him and his political connections. Simultaneously, an investigative article is published by Jung-sin’s newspaper. The combined impact leads to Chairman Lee’s arrest.

However, public attention quickly shifts away from the corruption case and instead focuses on the relationship between Hyun-jun and Jung-sin. The scrutiny negatively affects Hyun-jun’s career.

He begins losing endorsement deals and is forced to sell his house and car to compensate for financial losses. To prevent their relationship from overshadowing the case and to help Hyun-jun recover professionally, Jung-sin decides to accept a reporting assignment in Syria.

Before leaving, Jung-sin takes Hyun-jun on a date. After spending time together, she tells him about her decision to go to Syria. Hyun-jun hearing this becomes frustrated and angry, questioning how she could reveal such news only after the date.

He leaves but returns the next day to apologize for raising his voice. Jung-sin accepts the apology but remains firm in her decision, revealing that she will leave the day after, which coincides with the final day of filming for Hyun-jun’s series. She tells him this may be the last time they meet, which deeply upsets him.

Jung-sin leaves for Syria as planned. Around the same time, Hyun-jun completes filming his series, delivering an emotionally charged final scene where he breaks down in tears. Before departing, Jung-sin publishes another article clarifying that Hyun-jun has previously cut all ties with Chairman Lee. This restores his public image, leading to the return of his endorsement deals.

As time passes, Hyun-jun’s brother gives up acting and returns to medical school. Hyun-jun’s career continues to rise as he lands a role in a Hollywood project and secures another detective series for an OTT platform.

The latest season of Good Detective Kang Pil-goo, a role he has grown tired of, becomes the highest-rated season so far. Despite his earlier exhaustion, Hyun-jun admits that he now misses the character.

Meanwhile, Ju Jae-hyeong discovers that Yun Hwa-yong’s son is his own. They rekindle their romance and get married with him officially registering his relationship with his child.

While reporting in Syria, Wi Jung-sin gets seriously injured and loses her phone, cutting off all communication. Unable to reach her, Hyun-jun becomes increasingly distressed and spends his time looking at her old photos.

After recovering and retrieving her phone, Jung-sin sees numerous messages from Hyun-jun and contacts him, informing him that she will return to Korea the following month. After her return, the two reunite at N Seoul Tower, the same place where they has originally planned to meet after connecting through the Onion app.

Seeing each other, overcome with emotion, Jung-sin runs into Hyun-jun’s arms, expressing how much she missed him. Hyun-jun admits he had missed her just as deeply. They rekindle their relationship and officially begin dating again. Soon after, Hyun-jun proposes, and their engagement becomes public.

In the final moments, the director of Hyun-jun’s detective series makes a movie inspired by Hyun-jun and Jung-sin’s real-life journey. The series ends with the couple attending a screening of that film, which mirrors their own romance.

In the theater, they are recognized by the audience, who excitedly take photos of them together. With this, Nice to Not Meet You concludes with the ending of episode 16.
