NHL rumors took a sharp turn after an analyst tied Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk to a surprising future landing spot. Tkachuk remains under contract with Ottawa for several more seasons. He is signed on a seven-year deal worth $57.6 million with a cap hit just over $8.2 million. His contract runs through the 2027-28 season, when he can become an unrestricted free agent.

Speaking on Snow The Goalie: A Flyers Podcast, Colby Cohen pointed to Philadelphia as a team to watch. Cohen said the Flyers would be serious contenders if Tkachuk ever gains options.

"People get all frustrated every time this comes up," Cohen said. "The Flyers will be a team, when the day comes when Brady Tkachuk has opportunities to go places, the Flyers will be a team that he will seriously look at, OK, when that day comes…"

He added that Tkachuk spends part of his summers near the Jersey Shore due to family ties.

"My understanding is he spends a good amount of time somewhere around the Jersey Shore in the summer due to new family connections for him." Cohen said.

There is no indication Ottawa is shopping for its captain. Still, the long-term timeline leaves room for speculation.

Off the ice, the Flyers, which is valued at $2.66 billion per Sportico, has recently looked interested in acquiring offensive talents such as Trevor Zegras and Christian Dvorak. While this Tkachuk link is speculative, Cohen’s comments add intrigue. If Tkachuk’s future ever opens up, Philadelphia may be watching closely.

Brady Tkachuk’s season has started quietly due to injury, missing several games. He has nine points in 10 games, with one goal and eight assists. His value shows through physical play, shot volume, and net-front work as Ottawa continues to rely on his leadership and edge.

Philadelphia and Ottawa's contrasts for Brady Tkachuk

Philadelphia presents an interesting contrast in the rumor, because it has not made the playoffs since 2021. The Flyers sit fourth in the Metropolitan Division at 16-9-4.

Scoring has come from multiple lines rather than one star. Newly acquired forward Zegras has led the offense (28 points), while depth has supported him. The penalty kill has been average, though the power play still lags.

Meanwhile, the Senators who made it to the playoffs last season have a record of 14-12-4. Drake Batherson is leading the team's offense with 29 points, along with Tim Stutzle, who has 14 goals.

So, the senators have shown progress under Brady Tkachuk and are expected to improve with his return in the lineup.
