The 2025 NFL schedule will be released on Wednesday, May 14. Leading up to the official release, plenty of games and matchups have been leaked, including a ton of Week 1 showdowns.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are one team involved in rumors lately with the neverending drama and waiting game involving veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
On Wednesday, ESPN's Dan Graziano dropped a report that the Steelers remain optimistic about Rodgers signing with them.
" First of all, they remain optimistic that Rodgers will sign and be their starter, and that he'll play better than he did last season for the Jets now that he's one year further removed from his 2023 Achilles injury."
Moreover, just hours before the official schedule release, one source dropped a schedule leak that might be hinting at a Rodgers-Steelers signing. New York podcaster Matt O'Leary hinted at a Steelers' Week 1 showdown against the new York Jets, Rodgers' former team.
Per Source: The #Jets first 4 games are Week 1: vs PIT 1:00 pm Week 2: vs BUF 1:00 pm Week 3: @ TB 1:00 pm Week 4: @ MIA MNF 7:15 pm
If true, there are a ton of storylines. Former Steelers QB Justin Fields facing his former team. Rodgers facing his former team, and many more. The Jets moved on from Rodgers and wound up signing Fields to a two-year deal worth $40 million after he spent one season in Pittsburgh.
So, the Jets and Steelers facing off in Week 1 would be quite the money grab for the NFL. Rodgers' potential first game in Pittsburgh, Fields' first start with the Jets against his former team, and new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn's first game as head coach against the longest-tenured coach in Mike Tomlin.
What a matchup it would be, although it would be a flop if Rodgers doesn't sign with Pittsburgh.
